Instant analysis of Seattle’s 32-28 victory over Cleveland

In what was perhaps the strangest, ugliest game of the 2019 season, the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Cleveland Browns 32-28 to advance to 5-1 on the year.

The big story was a potentially serious injury suffered by tight end Will Dissly, who left the game with an Achilles injury and did not return. Dissly already missed most of his rookie season with a patellar injury, and another season lost would be devastating for the promising young star.

This game also featured a handful of oddities, including a blocked punt, multiple missed extra points, confusing penalty calls, shanked punts, and dropped passes galore.

Quarterback Russell Wilson had another MVP level performance, completing 23 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 31 yards and a touchdown as well.

Jaron Brown was on the receiving end of both of Wilson’s touchdown passes, his first two of the season. Brown had just 14 receptions last year, but five of them went for touchdowns as his streak of efficiency continued.

Chris Carson had an excellent all-around game, rushing 24 times for 124 yards while also hauling in four receptions for 35 yards.

Nick Chubb was a monster for the Browns, finishing with 122 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Seattle’s defense struggled mightily early in the game, allowing the Browns to score their third touchdown on the first play of the second quarter before they settled down.

Tedric Thompson, Tre Flowers and K.J. Wright each recorded an interception while Ziggy Ansah forced and recovered a fumble for the Seahawks.

The Seahawks are now 3-0 on the road for the first time since 1980. They’ll host Earl Thomas and the Ravens in Week 7 at CenturyLink Field on Sunday, Oct. 20.
