Instant analysis of Ravens selecting WR Miles Boykin in 3rd round

The Baltimore Ravens started day two of the 2019 NFL draft by waiting 60 picks from their No. 25 overall in the first round, to finally selecting pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson with their No. 85 overall pick in the third round.

But then Baltimore felt they couldn’t wait for their next selection. So, they decided to trade their 102nd overall pick (third round) along with their 191st and 193rd (sixth round respectively) with the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for Minnesota’s 93rd overall pick (third round).

By moving up, the Ravens decided to double dip early in this draft at wide receiver by selecting Notre Dame wide receiver Miles Boykin.

You talk about size and speed . . . Well, the combination doesn’t get a whole lot better than what Boykin brings to the table. At 6-foot-4 and weighing 220 pounds, Boykin has the potential to be a real playmaker for quarterback Lamar Jackson and the rest of Baltimore’s offense.

Boykin is a receiver who has a big catch radius, which honestly is helpful for Jackson as he works on his accuracy. Having a receiver who can just go up and get the football at its highest point is a luxury for any offense. But for an offense like the Ravens will feature — primarily focused on the running game — Boykin’s talents can open up a lot of opportunities.

When you also factor in wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who Baltimore selected in the first round last night, Ravens fans have to be excited to say the least.
