Instant analysis of Ravens’ 31-25 win over Colts

The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Indianapolis Colts by the final score of 31-25 in an absolutely wild, crazy and unbelievable contest that many counted Baltimore out of because of their play over the first three quarters. However, the Ravens found a way, mustering together 24 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to secure yet another win in an instant classic game.

The contest was defined by mistakes over the first three periods for Baltimore, as mistakes on offense, defense, and special teams sucked the air out of the stadium and put the Ravens in an extremely difficult hole to climb out of. However, they did just that on the arm of quarterback Lamar Jackson, who threw for a career-high 442 passing yards with insane accuracy (86% completion percentage) and four touchdowns while also adding in 62 rushing yards.

Jackson willed his team back from a 22-3 deficit late in the third quarter, something that many believe he could have never done, especially with a ground game that averaged a mere 3.4 yards per carry on the night.

On the defensive side of the ball, Baltimore still has plenty of work to do. They gave up 513 yards of offense to a banged up Indianapolis team. The Ravens missed tackles, blew coverages, and didn’t play well on defense outside of Odafe Oweh, Tavon Young and a few others, although Young had an almost critical personal foul penalty when he retaliated against Colts tight end Jack Doyle for a cheap shot move.

Overall, Baltimore got the job done when it mattered. The Ravens are one of the most, if not the most, resilient team in all of football, and although they aren’t perfect right now, they now stand at 4-1 after rattling off four-straight impressive victories.
