Instant analysis of Ravens’ 19-17 win over Lions

One week after picking up a phenomenal win against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens were able to secure another thrilling victory, this time against the Detroit Lions in Week 3 by the final score of 19-17. Justin Tucker played the hero, hitting and 66-yard field goal as time expired to win the football game.

It was a slow start for both teams in the first half, as only 10 total points were scored, all by Baltimore. The Ravens were moving the ball a bit over the first 30 minutes but couldn’t punch the ball in the end zone. Baltimore could have been up by much more at the half, but kicker Justin Tucker missed a 49-yard field goal and wide receiver Marquise Brown had three touchdowns glance off of his hands, including two bad drops and another that appeared to be lightly tipped by the defender.

In the second half Baltimore continued to let Detroit hang around as the Lions cut the Ravens’ lead to just one score. Baltimore failed to capitalize on some big plays, and a late interception by quarterback Lamar Jackson as well as some poor tackling let Detroit storm down the field and take the lead on a field goal with around one minute left to go. However when the Ravens’ offense got the ball back Jackson hit wide receiver Sammy Watkins for a big gain and Justin Tucker did the rest, hitting a game-winning 66-yard field goal as time expired.

Despite coming out with a victory on an incredible finish, there are plenty of things that Baltimore has to work on, including drops, cleaning up on penalties, and tackling better. However, the Ravens came out with a win, and that’s what matters at the end of the season.
