Instant analysis of Eagles trade for Bears RB Jordan Howard

The Philadelphia Eagles will still utilize a running back by committee, but the lead dog is now talented and as
dynamic a running back that you’ll find in the NFL. Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles acquired Howard in a trade with the Chicago Bears for a late round pick.

Howard, 24, has rushed for 3,370 yards during his first three seasons in the NFL, but after losing favor in Chicago for Tarik Cohen, he’ll head to Philadelphia where he’ll be the Eagles’ first- and second-down running back. Under contract in 2019 for $2.025M, Howard will be a free agent after this season if things don’t work out.

For the Eagles, Howard has 850 total touches over three seasons in Chicago, where he racked up a total of 3,938 yards and 25 total touchdowns. Last season, the worst of his career, Howard racked up 935 yards and nine touchdowns on 250 carries, besting anything four Eagles running backs did combined.
