Instant analysis of Eagles selecting Tyler Steen at No. 65 overall

After a trade with the Houston Texans, the Eagles drafted OL Tyler Steen with the 65th overall pick and S Sydney Brown with the 66th overall selection.

Steen spent his entire career in the SEC, starting at Vanderbilt before transferring to Alabama, where he became a versatile starter for the Crimson Tide.

With Philadelphia now having four picks on Day 3, here’s an instant analysis ofthe pick.

A talented and versatile offensive tackle at Alabama and Vanderbilt, Steen allowed two sacks in 498 pass block snaps last season.

The well-traveled offensive lineman has cross-trained and played 3,057 career snaps at left tackle and right tackle but was likely drafted as a right guard.

He gives Philadelphia a player that can play tackle in a pinch while allowing Cam Jurgens to play his natural position of center eventually.

Steen could have a chance to battle Cam Jurgens for playing time early on, and he’ll join Jack Driscoll and Brett Toth as swing tackles capable of playing multiple positions.
