Instant analysis of Broncos’ selection of Justin Hollins in NFL draft

With their fifth-round draft pick, the Denver Broncos have selected Oregon linebacker Justin Hollins. He was recently named the MVP of the annual East-West Shrine Game.

At Oregon, Hollins posted 184 total tackles (36 for losses), 14 sacks, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries in his career. He can provide a pass rush off the edge and can drop back into coverage. He should offer value as a special teams guy right away.

The Broncos needed help at the linebacker position going into this draft, but more specifically at the inside linebacker spot. Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson went at the pick right before Wilson.

The Broncos did trade for Dekoda Watson, a guy who spent the 2016 season in Denver, sending one of their fifth-round picks to the San Francisco 49ers.

Hollins will add depth to the linebacking corps. On the outside behind Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, the only other players on the roster are Jeff Holland Aaron Wallace, two unproven players.

There is room for Hollins to make a quick impact on this team.
