Instant analysis: Falcons get return ability in Marcus Green

The Falcons selected Marcus Green as a running back in the 2019 NFL draft after he played wide receiver in college. The small but speedy receiver did a lot of his work creating after the catch and might be better as a running back in the pros. Green should see action at both spots, though.

This pick is more about his return ability, though. In college, he put up 1,761 kickoff return yards with four touchdowns as well as 565 punt return yards with a touchdown. The Falcons needed a true return specialist and that’s where Green should stick on the roster in 2019. After that, expect Green to see more and more time on offense as a mixed weapon.

Early in his career he’ll have to battle quite a few talented receivers for playing time.

Some fans probably wanted Georgia’s Elijah Holyfield or Terry Godwin instead, but Green is faster than both and is a better returner.
