It’s one of the most popular stickers on Instagram , and now a hidden feature in the popular ‘Sound On’ sticker has been revealed.
The sticker has been available on Stories for years, and is used to indicate to viewers that a video has sound.
Most users simply see the sticker as a reminder to manually turn up the volume on their smartphone.
However, some have discovered that tapping the sticker actually turns the sound on for you.
Twitter user Hannah Louise tweeted about her findings this morning, writing: “Just discovered that if someone puts this sticker on their story you can actually click on it and it turns the sound on? literally who knew? all this time I've been using volume buttons like some kind of idiot???”
Several users have replied, with many in disbelief about the revelations.
One user replied: “Omg what I thought it was just an indicator that you *should* put your sound on cause it’ll be worth it.”
And one joked: “I only know this from making the mistake of tapping it with my sausage fingers a year ago.”
Instagram has a range of fun stickers that you can add to your stories.
Once you’ve chosen the photo or video you’d like to share on your Story, tap the square smiley icon at the top right of the screen.
From there you can choose from various stickers, including the Sound On sticker, a Donation sticker, a hashtag sticker of a Weather sticker.
