Update: Instagram says it has now fixed the issue we reported on earlier. A spokesperson for Meta, its parent company that was previously named Facebook, told Bristol Live: "We're aware that some people were having issues seeing their Instagram Stories view count and viewer list. The issue is now fixed, and things should be back to normal for any new Stories posted. We apologise for any inconvenience.” Original story follows.
Instagram's story feature appears to be experiencing problems after users around the world reported not being able to see who's viewed their story.
The issue, which Bristol Live has also experienced, does not prevent users from posting stories, but does prevent them from seeing who's viewed said story. Usually, users can see a list of friends and strangers who have viewed their story. The issue does not appear to be preventing friends from actually viewing stories.
Instagram has not publicly addressed the matter. Bristol Live has contacted Meta, Instagram's newly-renamed parent company, for comment.

Social media scrollers began reporting the issue on January 1 and the problem continues for some users today, January 5. Others, however, say the issue has now been fixed.
"I can't see [any] viewers on my Instagram stories anymore wtf," one person said on Twitter today. Another replied: "Thought they'd fix it but still nothing." Some people seem to be pleasantly surprised by the change, with one saying: "Obsessed with Instagram removing all my story viewers… I am free."
There are no known fixes for the problem, but the usual steps of logging out and in again, restarting your device, or deleting and re-downloading the app, could help.
