A war of words has been raging around a model after she posed in a purple bikini.
Chloe Morello has a huge presence online, with more than 1.1million people following her on Instagram .
Usually the LA-based social media star posts a variety of fashion shots with little controversy.
This changed two days ago when she uploaded a photo of herself on a beach wearing a purple bikini.
Some Instagram users took it upon themselves to direct negative, fat shaming comments at Chloe, pointing scornful fingers at the size of her stomach.
One user whose account consists solely of photos of cars wrote: "Two words of advice; salad bar."
“Boy or girl?” one person asked, implying she was pregnant.
Another said "When’s it due?” while many just wrote “congratulations”.
The model was not ready to take the cheap jibes lying down, firing back to one comment: "Clearly not? Wtf? It’s really, really rude and unacceptable to ask that to someone! Don’t do it again as it can really upset people for so many reasons.”
Many people were quick to come to her defence, diluting the body shaming comments with hundreds of upbeat, positive words of support.
One person wrote: "Very beautiful woman! Enjoy your vacation and ignore the idiots!"
Another added: "Sexy as hell!! Don’t listen to the haters Chloe, there probably a bunch of overweight Cheeto eating fools!!"
Like most social media services Instagram has a long and depressing history of body shaming pile-ons.
At the end of 2018 American actress Anna Faris received a huge amount of flack over the size of her legs.
After 15 minutes of people demanding that she eat more and seek help she deleted her account.
