Instagram is preparing to launch a huge redesign - with a key change to Stories

Since it launched back in August 2016, Stories has been one of Instagram ’s most popular features.

The feature lets Instagram users post photos and videos that vanish after 24 hours.

Now, it seems that Instagram is preparing to launch a huge redesign that makes it much easier to watch your friends’ Stories.

Julian Gamboa, Marketing & Social Media Manager at Adweek, posted screenshots of the new layout to Twitter this week.

He wrote: “You've heard of two rows of Instagram Stories...Now prepare for "SEE ALL STORIES”

The screenshots indicate that your main feed could soon include two rows of Stories at the top of the screen, rather than the current one row.

Meanwhile, a new ‘See All Stories’ bar has been added at the top of the screen.

According to Mr Gamboa, if you tap this, you’ll be taken to a new tab in which all your friends’ stories are laid out in a grid.

While it remains unclear when, or even if Instagram plans to roll out the new redesign, it’s received very varied feedback on Twitter.

One user replied: “Woaaaah that's cool,” while another added: “I back it.”

However, others weren’t convinced.

One replied: “Would be cool if it was a new tab that works by swiping, not the home page. Plus the visual pollution is getting on my nerves.”

And one joked: “The app has been clunky since Facebook bought them.”

Speaking to Mirror Online, a Facebook company spokesperson said: “We’re always testing new ways to improve the Instagram experience for our community."
