Instagram influencer James Kavanagh lifts lid on drunken nights with unlikely RTE pal

Irish presenter and influencer James Kavanagh lifted the lid on his drunken nights with Anne Doyle - revealing they "got locked" in Dusseldorf whilst filming a travel show, just before the pandemic hit.

The social media star, who boasts 145,000 followers on Instagram has bagged a new pal in the retired RTE broadcaster, describing the iconic news reader "the queen of memes".

Lifting the lid on their top secret travel show, which has been halted due to Covid 19, James said the unlikely duo are itching to get back working on something in the new year.

James, who is no stranger to TV presenting, after co-hosting Ireland’s Got Talent’s after-show alongside Glenda Gilson told The Social Media: “I filmed a travel pilot with Anne Doyle just before Covid happened and that was brilliant, I saw the edit.

“Myself and Anne Doyle went to Dusseldorf and got locked and it was so much fun but then obviously Covid happened and we are in talks to do the cooking show.

“So hopefully when everything eases up again we can go ahead with that.

“We stay in touch everyday and she sends me memes daily, she’s mad for memes, the queen of memes, and sends me funny videos on Whatsapp every day.

“When I call her, she always asks me something about the phone, like ‘how do I get this app’ or whatever, she teaches me and I teach her but we definitely want to do more projects in the new year for sure.

“She’s such craic,” he added.

After an eye opening year, which also saw him and his partner William Murray have to postpone the opening of their new cafe, the Dubliner said they are now planning on giving up city life for good to move to William’s native Cork countryside.

For a taster of their future life this Christmas, the pair are heading to a country house in Mallow to spend the festive season with their families away from the hustle and bustle.

And dubbing the ‘Christmas sandwiches’ as his favourite tradition, he said he’s already counting down the days to whip up some of his favourites for his loved ones.

Joining forces with Heinz, James, who is a Ballymaloe trained cook, has created five lip-smacking sandwiches with Heinz [Seriously] Good Mayonnaise, to make St. Stephen’s Day leftovers the most anticipated meal of the Christmas culinary calendar.

“I always take control of the sandwiches, and for me, I named one of these better than the dinner, because for me, I think Christmas sandwiches are better than the dinner.

“It is almost this sneaky bold thing that you have a couple of hours after dinner.

“Everyone is waiting for that moment to say it.
