Thanksgiving moments are shareable again on social media.
Hours after several Facebook and Instagram users reported outages to the popular social media networks, access has been restored, Facebook said in a statement to USA TODAY.
”Earlier today, an issue in one of our central software systems caused many people to have trouble accessing Facebook’s family of apps,” Facebook said in its statement. “We quickly investigated, started restoring access, and we’re now monitoring for full recovery. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”
Hashtag #instagramdown was trending on Twitter on Thursday morning and according to the tracking website DownDetector.com, more than 21,000 people have reported outages with the photo sharing site.
Instagram took to Twitter to say it was aware of the issue.
”We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing Facebook’s family of apps, including Instagram. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. #InstagramDown,” Instagram tweeted at 10:41 a.m. ET.
Around 12:20 p.m., many were reporting Facebook was back up for them but that Instagram still wasn’t working.
According to DownDetector’s tracking map, Instagram has the most outage reports in central Europe. Facebook outages are mainly across the U.S.
More than 9,000 are reporting outages on Facebook, according to DownDetector.com as of 10:40 a.m. ET.
”Instagram really wants us to socialize with our families today huh,” Twitter user @ridahamiddd tweeted.
