Instagram down: Social media site crashes for thousands of users across Europe

Instagram is down for thousands of users across Europe.

According to Downdetector, reports of issues on the site started at around 9:30pm and peaked at  9:45pm with over 1,000 users affected.

Most people reported problems with their news feed not freshing while some said there were issues uploading an viewing stories.

The photo sharing site also suffered issues yesterday, with thousands reporting similar issues.

Many users took to Twitter to share issues they were having. with the platform.

Ana Gonzalez said: Instagram is down again. Thousands of people reporting problems with their posts and stories.

"I personally have no new views on stories and cannot see other people’s stories! @instagram what’s up?"

Instagram is owned by Facebook and is the fourth most downloaded mobile app of the decade, from 2010 to 2019.

The most liked photo on Instagram is an image of an egg, posted by the account @world_record_egg and created with the sole purpose of surpassing the previous record of 18 million likes on a post by Kylie Jenner.

Yesterday, Christiano Ronaldo became the first person to reach 200 million Instagram followers.

According to Forbes, Ronaldo receives $47.8million (£36.7million) a year from paid-Instagram posts.

The most followed account is the Instagram official page.

Ariana Grande is third on the list, with 173 million followers.
