Instagram down as hundreds of users complain they can't access platform

Thousands of users have complained they can't access Instagram.

The social media platform is reportedly down with users complaining they can't access the site.

It is not certain what is causing the headache for the social media site.

But the site which records outages 'DownDetector' reported 82% of users were having problems accessing the photosharing app..

At 6pm UK time it appeared to have reached a peak according to the site.

Reports said around 7,000 people had reported issues in the US with figures continuing to rise.

Users in the UK are also reporting problems with their Instagram feed..

Reports started flooding into DownDetector at 12pm.

Users on other platforms reported the outage with users joking about why it might be down.

People took to Facebook and Twitter to complain about the loss of service which meant they couldn't document events and tell their followers about new launches and releases or show new pictures of them.

And other complaints were aired elsewhere on social media.

One frustrated user said: "The way I come to Twitter to search “Instagram down” every two weeks".

Another, meanwhile said: "Is anyone else having trouble with #Instagram this morning?"

Another user said: "Is Instagram down? I'm only seeing pics from weeks ago?"

On the site it explains that there does appear to be a 'technical issue with stories'.

Tech site Verge said: "Reports across the internet note issues with Meta’s more-than-just-pictures app, with many people seeing screens saying they’re not logged in, blank image posts, 'Welcome to Instagram' messages like they have a brand new account, or feeds that stop loading after the first few pictures."

"Many people seeing similar issues while trying to access Instagram.

The site added that there 'doesn't appear to be any acknowledgement' of an issue from the phto sharing site or from Facebook or their parent company.

A user called Audrey on the DownDetector site vented her frustration about the outage.

She said: My account now working

"I scroll up can't see more posts I can only see 4 posts come on Instagram stop glitching fix the app getting SICK of this like seriously am ready to quite Instagram sick and of all the errors."

Only last week the site experienced another outage when Downdetector said: "Instagram down reports are flooding in today, with users reporting issues seeing Stories today and seeing strange things happening with their Explore feed.

"The reported Instagram issues began around 6pm UK time with independent outage monitor Down Detector registering thousands of reports of Instagram down.

"So far downdetector.com has registered a peak of almost 4,000 reports of Instagram down while social networking site Twitter is flooded with messages about issues with Stories and the Explore feed."
