Instagram announces important update for anyone who has a profile

Instagram has added a new feature allowing users to pin posts to their profiles.

The new feature has been in the trial phase for months but Instagram has just released an update for its users worldwide. Following in the footsteps of Twitter and TikTok, users will now be able to pin their favourite posts and reels to the top of their profiles.

Users can access the feature by tapping on the three dots on the upper right-hand side of any post, in the same area they can locate more options. The first time users visit their profiles, official instructions from Instagram will appear on the screen to explain in more detail.

The prompt said: "You can now pin up to three posts (photos or Reels) to remain at the top of your profile grid, giving creators more flexibility to express themselves on their profiles. Starting today, the feature will be available globally to all users.”

Instagram has been testing other new features including the ability to rearrange your Instagram feed posts as you see fit, meaning your oldest posts can now be repositioned at the top of your profile. Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri said the new feature is to allow users and creators to have more control over their profiles.
