Inspiring videos show Edinburgh coming out in force to take part in Pipe Up For Key Workers

A second 'Clap For Our Carers' event aimed at thanking all of the frontline key workers in the UK -including NHS Heroes - took place at 8pm on April 2, and Edinburgh turned up in force to take part in the inspiring celebration.

While some people clapped - including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon - others played 'Scotland The Brave' on the bagpipes, an initiative dubbed 'Pipe Up For Key Workers.'

One of the people taking part was Harry McNulty (86), a former Pipe Major with Lothian and Borders Police, who belted out Scotland The Brave on his doorstep in Edinburgh in full regalia.

Many people who couldn't play the pipes either clapped along with the tune, or used pots and pans to 'drum along', as you can hear in this video:

Pipers from Midlothian also filled the surprisingly light 8pm streets with the sound of 'Scotland The Brave':

It was inspiring to see so many people in Edinburgh and the Lothians taking part.

The production manager of the Edinburgh Tattoo - which has sadly had to cancel its 70th birthday edition of the Tattoo that was supposed to take place this August - also joined in:

Well done to everyone in Edinburgh and the Lothians who joined in. We wonder what theme next week's 8pm clapping event will have?
