Inspiring Govan schoolboy amputee stars in 'biggest ever' Sky advert Harris and the Robots

An inspiring Glasgow youngster has made his acting debut as the star of the latest Sky advert and campaign.

Harris Tinney, a pupil at Govan High School, was handpicked for the role after signing with a talent agency for people with disabilities.

The 12-year-old had his left leg amputated when he was just days old following a difficult labour.

Since then, he's gone on to defy the odds and has even set his sights on becoming the first professional footballer with a prosthetic limb.

Harris, from Bellahouston, has now tried his hand at acting after being cast in the advert for Sky Q - which has been described as the advertising agencies 'biggest campaign ever'.

The schoolboy was flown out to Barcelona with his mum to film the aptly named Harris and the Robots over the course a week.

The advert follows the epic journey of the robot-obsessed 12-year-old, as he travels through the worlds of Avengers, Star Wars, Transformers and Boston Dynamics, collecting everything he loves.

At the end of the advert, it’s revealed that one of the reasons Harris is passionate about the entertainment he has ‘collected’ along the way is because he has a prosthetic limb and feels an affinity with the characters in his collection.

As well as the advert, Harris features on Sky Q billboards and home screen, allowing viewers to watch his favourite TV and movies.

Mum Lisa explained: "I travelled with Harris and Sky made sure he was well looked after provided him with a chaperon - bodyguard in Harris' eyes. He spent the week filming and learning all about the industry as it was his first big commercial, one he loved doing.

"I was so surprised by how at ease Harris was throughout. The commercial was the best fit ever for Harris who, with his family, loves watching superhero movies and as we have always called him is our robo kid.

"I get really carried away with explaining it all as it was a dream come true for Harris who just thrives at every opportunity he is given despite his amputation."

The advert had its TV debut on Friday and has already attracted thousands of views on YouTube.

We previously reported how Harris caught the attention of ex-Rangers stars Fraser Aird and Greg Docherty with his incredible football skills.

Harris, who plays for Amputee Football Association Scotland, shared a video of himself showcasing his talent - completing the round the world challenge with his prosthetic leg.
