ECHO readers have been honouring their mums for International Women's Day today.
Many responded to our Facebook post call for people to contact us about the women who inspired them - and not surprisingly, it was mums who figured strongly.
They included Kimberley Potter, who said: "My beloved Mum had a hard life... ill health... but always taught me to be strong and to never give up. To grow up and watch her go through such challenging times inspires me to this day. Miss her every day of my life."
Lisa Jane Fitzpatrick said: "My mum was my hero, an inspiration. Now my best friends are... they keep me going and give me words of wisdom and encouragement when times are hard for me."
Joyce Casey said: "My beloved mum, whom we lost 21 years ago today, had 10 children in consecutive years, worked full time, did all her own decorating, didn't drink or smoke and worked until she got mugged at age 76... my true inspiration."
David Murray said: "I think like most of us the woman who inspired me is my mum, she was so funny and brave."
Ann King said: "My beautiful mother, had a hard life but always had time for others, love and miss you mum."
Tammy Silsby said: "My mum Sharon McDonald is amazing and so strong, even after suddenly losing her fiance she remains strong and always there for her children and grandchildren."
Frances Gannon said her mum "was the strongest person I know," adding: "I think all the women in our family are strong it's in the genes."
David C Foreman wrote: "My mum, every day I miss you and your advice. Until we meet again."
