Inspired by Sharon Stone’s stunning mirror, I reimagined my backyard in ways I never thought possible – she's created a luxe outdoor escape

Sharon Stone.

Traditionally, I have associated mirrors with spaces inside the home; hallways, bathrooms, bedrooms, or closets. Less often have I considered implementing one in the backyard, but after seeing Sharon Stone's garden oasis, I am convinced that this is not a want but a need.

The Basic Instinct actor showed off her ornate, stone mirror hanging in her green space, which adds dimension and intricate detail to the beautiful area.

It's accented by a statement flower in a vase, creating an outdoor living room effect with the sideboard-style table sitting underneath it. In short: I'm obsessed, and am now brainstorming outdoor mirror ideas.

First off, I love how the mirror acts as a major point of visual interest in the backyard. While landscaping, for many of us, is a primary concern, incorporating an unexpected element, like a vintage mirror, is a fantastic way to draw attention to a specific point in your outdoor area.

Additionally, the mirror is a great way to highlight specific plants and greenery in your backyard. Depending on how large you go and where you position it, you can spotlight a large section of your backyard's plants, trees, or flowers, making them stand out even more.

When it comes to Sharon's mirror, I love that she opted for a storied stone variation, but the options are endless depending on your existing aesthetic. If you are leaning more modern and contemporary in your backyard, try experimenting with sleek, metallic mirrors for a luxe, elegant appearance. Regardless of your personal taste, mirrors in the backyard are a design win in my eyes.
