Inspirational MND Scot doesn't let cancelled hen do get her down in sun-soaked trip to garden centre

An inspirational Scot battling Motor Neurone Disease didn't let her cancelled hen party get her down as she soaked up the rays during a special tour of a garden centre.

Lucy Lintott, who is the youngest person in Scotland battling the disease, was today supposed to be enjoying her last night of freedom before getting hitched.

Sadly the bash had to be called off due to the coronavirus outbreak.

But the brave 25-year-old was still able to enjoy herself thanks to doting husband-to-be Tommy Smith and a family pal who organised a private tour of Decora in Elgin.

A beaming Lucy was pictured amidst a sea of colourful flowers while lapping up the rays in a snap uploaded to Twitter.

Alongside the post, she said: "Today should have been my hen do!

"But after 5 weeks of isolation my wonderful fiancé and a family friend organised to let me pretend everything's normal with a private tour of Decora.

"It's the little things in life."

The happy couple recently announced the amazing news that they had welcomed their first child together.

We previously told how Lucy may be the first MND patient to fall pregnant after being diagnosed with the terminal disease.

She uploaded a picture on Thursday April 16 of her and Tommy gazing lovingly at their adorable son, revealing he was born nine weeks ago.

Lucy, from Moray, captioned it: "9 weeks ago today our little man was born and as you can see we're still absolutely besotted by him."

Doctors gave Lucy just four months to live when they told her the devastating diagnosis in 2013.

But since then, Lucy, who was aged just 19 at the time, has gone on to become a charity campaigner and raised over £200k to help beat the illness.

Tommy, from Fochabers in Moray, got down on one knee and asked Lucy to marry him in a heartwarming video back in May.

In a clip on Lucy’s Twitter page headed “When you know, you know” the couple are seen apparently posing for photographs until Tommy reaches into his sporran, takes out a ring box and gets down on one knee.

Placing his hand on her knee he said: “I would like you to do me the pleasure of being my wife.”

Lucy beamed but made no reply until Tommy prompted: “Waiting for an answer.”

At this point she nodded and said ‘yes’ before Tommy tenderly placed a ring on her finger.
