Inspirational Glasgow woman raises £2k in memory of beloved baby niece

An inspirational Glasgow woman has thanked the people of her home city for their amazing support during a recent fundraiser.

by Glasgow Live, pushed herself to the limit last month when she embarked on an epic challenge in memory of her beloved baby niece, who was tragically born asleep at the start of the year.

Bernie, who lives with cerebral palsy, completed a five-mile sponsored cycle before taking on a sponsored trampoline event.

And she raised an incredible £2,000 for charity Simba, which supports families who have been affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy or birth.

Bernie, 24, told Glasgow Live: "Last month, I took on two challenges to help a small charity with a big meaning.

"After months of training, I cycled for five miles in Glasgow Green and the day after I took on a trampoline challenge in memory of my baby niece Freya, who will always be in my heart.

"Simba have been a great support to my family, so I wanted to give something back to the charity.

"I'm delighted with the huge amount of money that I have raised, thanks a million to everyone who kindly donated.

"It is a real feeling of warmth knowing that the funds I have raised are going to make a difference to the charity, thanks for helping to create precious little memories - it has been a pleasure to fundraise for the wonderful Simba. "

Simba works to provide memory boxes, hospital rooms, support groups and much more to those who need it.
