Inspirational cancer nurse is also raising money for the people she treats

An inspirational nurse who has devoted her life to helping patients suffering from cancer now plans to cycle hundreds of miles to raise money for them.

Tracey Arthur knows only too well the destruction of the illness after watching her mum battling against it at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) where she works.

Thankfully she survived but Tracey, through her job, has seen the devastation caused when patients do die.

That's why the senior nurse, along with her husband Kevin, has decided to fundraise for Above & Beyond.

This is why there's so many abandoned shoes on College Green

From paying for groundbreaking technology to making sure the little touches are in place to make peoples' stay in hospital better, Tracey has witnessed first-hand what a difference the organisation makes.

"It was hard for me and the family when my mum got diagnosed but I knew she was in the best place."

Impressively, the 50-year-old has already taken part in Bristol to Paris 2017, London to Amsterdam 2018, abseiled the BHOC nine floors up as well as a skydive.

Tracey said “I could not have done this without the support of my family, friends and colleagues.

"They have been amazing in helping me to raise vital funds for the charity in so many ways. My family and I certainly have gained a reputation at the BHOC for our monthly bake sales.”
