Inspector General Iqbal Singh Chauhan takes over as Coast Guard Commander in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Inspector General Iqbal Singh Chauhan took over as the Commander Coast Guard Region(North East), Kolkata on Wednesday.

An alumnus of College of Defence Management, Secundrabad and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration Mussoorie and a recipient of the ‘Tatrashak Medal’, Chauhan, has commanded all class of Indian Coast Guard ships. The important shore appointments held by the flag officer include Coast Guard Commander for the state of West Bengal & Gujarat and officer in-charge Coast Guard work-up organization. He has also served as Staff Officer to the Director General Indian Coast Guard.

On elevation to his flag rank, he was serving as Deputy Director General, Bureau of Naviks at Mumbai, prior to assuming the present assignment.

A 13th Course, Direct Entry Coast Guard officer, Chauhan holds a postgraduate degree in management science.
