Insolvency boss Adam Deering credits sobriety for “milestone” turnover target

A Manchester businessman has said getting sober seven years ago has helped him achieve success.

Altrincham-based Adam Deering is chief executive of personal insolvency firm Hanover Insolvency and chief operating officer for funeral organisers Pride Planning as well as chief executive of Deerbank Capital Ltd and software firm HTEC Solutions Ltd.

In 2017, the portfolio of four businesses generated £20m turnover and are on track to hit a “milestone” £50m turnover, he said.

Mr Deering said there is a “huge correlation between success and sobriety”.

“Back in 2012 my former firm had taken a turn for the worse and I was staring down the barrel of bankruptcy having just become a father but that just gave me more drive to succeed.

“Fast forward to 2019 and my businesses are on course to generate £50m turnover and it’s all because of the vital lifestyle changes I made.”

He added: “I’d like to think my story might offer hope to others who find themselves in a similar situation.”

Mr Deering said he counts reality TV star Kerry Katona and singer Simon Webbe as Hanover Insolvency’s celebrity clients, having recently helped them manage their debts.

The firm aims to reduce a client’s payments to creditors and currently has more than £160 million of debt under management schemes.

It arranges Individual Voluntary Agreements for clients with £5,000 or more of debt, and who can afford to pay £70 per month or more.

Hanover, Based in Timperley, employs 130 members of staff, while Pride Planning, headquartered in Stockport employs 50 members of staff.
