Insiders Spill On Tom Hardy’s On-Set Behaviour On MobLand Amid Axing Rumours: ‘Career Suicide’

New details are emerging amid reports Tom Hardy was fired from the upcoming season of MobLand over alleged on-set clashes with his co-stars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

The drama kicked off last week, when Hardy was dogged by headlines claiming he was axed from the season three cast of MobLand, a mobster drama series airing on Paramount.

While some outlets have since reported Hardy hasn’t been officially fired yet — with his role apparently still ‘in limbo’ ahead of filming for season three — insiders have now come forward with claims about the actor’s behaviour during the previous season.

One allegation, shared by an anonymous source to The Hollywood Reporter, claimed Hardy “refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time” while filming season two.

“He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager,” the source claimed.

In another report, Puck News claimed Hardy also attempted to alter his lines of dialogue and provide script notes to MobLand creator Ronan Bennett and executive producer Jez Butterworth.

The claims come as MobLand awaits being greenlit for a third season, with a source telling THR that if it gets the go-ahead, filming for the new instalment will begin in September.

Other instances of Hardy’s alleged on-set behaviour have resurfaced amid the reports, including director George Miller’s claims that the actor butt heads with Charlize Theron while filming Mad Max: Fury Road.

“[They’re] two very different performers,” Miller said in 2024. “Tom has a damage to him but also a brilliance that comes with it, and whatever was going on with him at the time, he had to be coaxed out of his trailer.”

For his part, actor Patrick Stewart said in his 2023 memoir, Making It So, that Hardy was “an odd, solitary young man” while working with him on Star Trek: Nemesis.

“Tom wouldn’t engage with any of us on a social level. Never said, ‘Good morning,’ never said, ‘Goodnight,’ and spent the hours he wasn’t needed on set in his trailer with his girlfriend,” Stewart wrote.

Hardy has not yet responded to the reports. Beyond MobLand, he is reportedly set to star in an as-yet untitled project directed by Sean Penn.
