Inside your Chinese zodiac sign: What it says about you and your perfect match

This Chinese New Year on February 12, we’ll be celebrating the Year of the Ox, but do you know what your Chinese zodiac sign is?

Chinese New Year marks the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar.

Some locals took to Facebook last night wondering why they could hear fireworks in the city, and it was likely due to people celebrating.

Whilst you might hear some fireworks later tonight, in a normal year without coronavirus it is celebrated across the world with festivals filled with light and colour.

But with celebrations stopped this year, we have a new tool to help you have fun at home.

What is the Chinese zodiac calendar?

According to myth, the Jade Emperor declared the order of zodiac signs would be based on the order that each of the 12 animals finished a great race.

During the race, the rat used its cunning to navigate a huge river by persuading the ox to let it sit on its head as it crossed.

Rather than say thank you on the other side, the rat made a dash for the finish and came in first place, meaning the kindly ox came second.

While they are perhaps too trusting, people born in the year of the ox have several admirable traits - they are typically thought to be honest, diligent and persistent.

And while it was the rat that tricked the ox, people born in the year of the rat are actually some of the most compatible with those born in the year of the ox when it comes to love.
