Inside William and Kate's half-term holiday - private suite at Heathrow and nanny in tow

Like many other families across the UK, the the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have packed their bags and jetted off with their children on a special half-term holiday.

William and Kate were seen arriving at Heathrow Airport last week with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The couple were spotted unloading luggage from their car outside Heathrow's opulent Windsor Suite with the kids carrying their own backpacks.

Their holiday destination is unknown but they were likely jetting out of the UK for just the second time since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

Here's what else we know about their family getaway...

William and Kate will probably have chosen this week for a special family getaway as the two oldest children George and Charlotte are on their half-term holidays.

The pair attend Thomas's School in Battersea, where children finished for their week off on Thursday - the same day they were spotted at the airport.

Term begins again for the older kids on Monday, November 1, so if they are going to be back in time for class, it's likely the holiday will last around a week.

Similarly, November 1 is the day the Queen is expected to host a reception at the COP26 climate change summit, which William and Kate are also down to attend.

When the Cambridges were spotted arriving at Heathrow, they pulled up outside the airport's luxurious Windsor Suite.

According to OK!, no luxury item is left out of the suite as visitors get VIP treatment and there are almost 100 staff, who take care of everyone from heads of state to A-list celebs.

The suite comes at a price of £3,300 and perks inside include a luxury lounge that has a portrait of the Queen and artwork curated by Tanya Baxter Contemporary, your own personal butler and a menu of food designed by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton.

Personal shoppers are also on hand for passengers wanting to stock up on duty free and there is a private security lane, which it's reported "takes 30 seconds to get through".

Nanny in tow

When the Cambridges were seen organising their luggage at the airport, there wasn't just the five of them.

Also in tow was their long-term nanny Maria Borrallo, who has been with the family since Prince George was a baby, and trained at the prestigious Norland College.

Maria now lives with the family at Kensington Palace and travels with them on all royal tours and visits as a discrete presence.

Royal events where she has been spotted include Princess Eugenie's wedding, where George and Charlotte were pageboy and bridesmaid, Princess Charlotte's christening and at Trooping the Colour.

Where were they headed?

It's unknown exactly where the family were headed off to on their half-term holiday.

The only time they are believed to have left the UK since the coronavirus pandemic was to travel to France for the wedding of Kate's brother James Middleton to long-term love Alizée Thevenet.

Earlier in the summer, they were said to have enjoyed a sunny break on the Isles of Scilly.

An overseas destination they've been to in the past and are known to love is the Caribbean island of Mustique.

But speaking earlier this year, royal expert Katie Nicholl predicted the Cambridges would be likely to ditch "lavish breaks".

She said: "I believe that Kate and William are transforming into the future King and Queen and therefore are adopting more traditional practices.”
