Inside Wales' gruelling Turkish training camp as players swelter in 40°C heat

Wales are continuing their preparations for the World Cup with a gruelling training camp in Turkey.

Having risen to the top of the world rankings as a result of their 13-6 triumph over England at Principality Stadium on Saturday, Warren Gatland's troops flew out to the Gloria Sports Arena near Antalya ahead of their double header against Ireland.

And it's safe to say the players aren't being allowed to rest on their laurels after their win against Eddie Jones' men in Cardiff.

The squad are being put through their paces up to three times a day, with temperatures in Turkey already reaching around 40°C, as they aim to get into peak condition for the global showpiece in Japan.

Speaking earlier this year about the training camp, Gatland said: "Our second camp is our warm-weather camp, we will be based over in Turkey, putting the players through heat stress, preparing them for the conditions in Japan."

“We’ve been working very hard and these camps will allow the squad to be in the best shape possible in Japan,” said Josh Adams.

“We’re looking forward to putting in some hard work and then coming home to play Ireland.”

Following their week-long camp in Turkey, Wales host Ireland at Principality Stadium on Saturday, August 31 before facing Joe Schmidt's side at Dublin's Aviva Stadium seven days later.
