Inside the 'world's scariest' haunted house where no one has ever lasted more than six hours

In the 'world's scariest' haunted house experience, people are bound, slapped and forced to eat their own vomit every day, according to reports.

McKamey Manor, run by Russ McKamey in San Diego, California, has been described in reports as a 'psychological nightmare'.

Participants get their head shaved and are sent away shaking after a range of special effects, actors and live animals such as tarantulas and rats, it is claimed.

They can also be masked and held under water, it is alleged.

Terrifying video footage from inside the house shows people screaming in distress.

One shouts "get me out" as he seemingly can't handle the 'thrill' anymore.

People in the footage are seen to be gagged and are covered in fake blood.

The interactive experience can last up to eight hours but so far no one has made it that long.

Six hours is the longest a participant has been able to cope before leaving the house, a record held by someone known as Sarah P in 2014, The Sun reports.

Still, there are 24,000 on the waiting list to try out the terrifying experience.

Guests have to undergo a background health check to make sure they haven't got any serious medical conditions before taking part as well as signing a waiver.

But one participant suffered a heart attack in 2008 during the experience, The Sun reports.

“It’s survival horror boot camp,” Mr McKamey told The Guardian.

But he adds: “It’s not real. If people were really hurt we’d be shut down. It’s smoke and mirrors.”
