Inside the world of British dog shows in the '60s and '70s

There are many things that are quintessentially British.

Afternoon tea, Sunday roasts, talking about the weather, queueing and dog shows are all ingrained in British culture.

The latter has now been celebrated in a new book, Dog Show 1961-1978 by Shirley Baker which includes playful photographs that encapsulate the owners and canine companions at dog shows during these two decades.

From Pekingese to Poodles, Dalmations and Dachshunds, Baker's new book highlights the loving and sometimes obsessive relationship between the show dog owners and their pets - some even matching their outfits to the dogs coat.
