Inside the townhouse with its very own cave - and it's next door to a castle

This historic townhouse worth £825,000 has a private cave under the building - and is next door to a castle.

The huge house in Nottingham's city centre has nearly 4,000 square ft of accommodation and one of the city's top restaurants on its doorstep.

It is described as an "impressive Grade II listed Georgian town house that was built within the latter part of the 18th Century," the Nottingham Post reports.

Not only is the property is close to Nottingham Castle, but it has a sandstone cave on the lower floor, currently being used as a wine cellar.

In total, there are four bedrooms and four bath or shower rooms and the house is priced at offers in excess of £825,000.

Jane Dixon, property consultant at FHP Living, the estate agent selling the house, said: "This is an impressive Grade II listed Georgian town house that was built within the latter part of the 18th Century.

"Within walking distance of the city centre and its associated amenities it is also close to the corner of medieval St James’s Terrace and St James’s Street, two of Nottingham's five original lanes.

"These five lanes created Nottingham's great medieval thoroughfare and were known as Mount Street, St James Street, Friar Lane, Hounds Gate and "Castle Gate".
