Inside the Printworks' new bowling alley and arcade

A brand new bowling alley opens at The Printworks in Manchester this weekend, complete with an arcade and a karaoke room.

Tenpin has taken over the two-storey unit formerly occupied by the Hard Rock Casino and will officially welcome visitors from Friday September 18.

The new entertainment centre has 12 lanes of interactive bowling inside, with high-speed infrared cameras that track the movement of the bowling balls and project graphics onto the lane.

There's also a state-of-the-art arcade, and other games including table tennis, pool tables, shuffleboard and beer pong.

Visitors will also be able to book themselves into the on-site karaoke room.

Included in the large site, which sits close to Shudehill tram stop, are two bars and an American-style diner serving burgers and hot dogs which can be ordered to your lane using an app.

The space has been filled with tattoo-stye artwork and neon lights, with industrial raw material finishes around the bar area.

Tenpin is the latest entertainment attraction to open at The Printworks, joining Treetop Adventure Golf, and the Escape Reality escape rooms.

It will be Tenpin's 46th site in the UK, and the first where all bowling lanes are interractive.

The venue was originally set to open this summer, but plans were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Paul Grayson, GM of the new venue, said: "We're really pleased to finally be able to reveal our incredible new Manchester venue to the city.

"We've been working hard behind the scenes to build something that Manchester will love and the team have created an incredible space where guests can drink, eat and play all under one roof.

"We're excited to be the first Tenpin venue to have all interactive lanes, and we've also added Beer Pong, Shuffleboard tables and a Karaoke room to our range of entertainment options for the first time too.

"We want every person who visits us to feel like they could lose a whole day in here!"

Ticket bundles will include a game of bowling, food and a drink from £15 per person, or a game of bowling with a drink from £9 per person.

Initially, only eight of the 12 lanes will be open to ensure social distancing measures can be observed.

Bookings will also be capped at six guests, who must all be from the same social bubble.

Each bowling lane will be sanitised between bookings, and guests are asked to wear their own shoes and to wear face coverings at all times, unless eating or drinking.

Tenpin Manchester will open on September 8 at the Printworks on Withy Grove.

Its opening hours will be 10am to 1am, Sunday to Wednesday, with a later closing time of 2.30am between Thursday and Sunday.
