Inside the 'out of control' pub so rough that police want its licence pulled

An 'out of control' pub said it has "nothing to hide" following claims by the police that alcohol is being served to youngsters and punters are getting into bloodshed bust ups.

Northumbria Police want the Barking Dog's licence revoked following allegations of broken jaws and 3am lock-ins.

However the manager of the pub in Wallsend, Newcastle, told Chronicle Live the allegations were a "load of rubbish".

"The management of this premises has been continuously poor," states the Northumbria Police report.

The report also claims it is "well known" children were able to buy alcohol from the pub, and drink it in the concert room. The police cited local intelligence as the source.

One officer even found kids in the concert room with the report adding: "One of the children could be heard to say 'hide the drink'."

The force have began a review into the venue's licence and have made a string of allegations including several revellers who were injured following a fight after an 18th birthday, which left "blood on the floor of the bar area and in the men's toilet", and a "wanted" person who was spotted inside the pub while still at large.

A man was also left with serious injuries after an attack, allegedly by two punters who were barred, and a "vicious assault" during a lock-in which left a man which his jaw broken.

Another scuffle unfolded after a staff member was reportedly sacked for refusing to work a lock-in - however the move caused chaos after her dad came down to confront a manager.

The police said a scuffle unfolded between the dad and a male, with one of them suffering a gash to the head.

However designated supervisor Christine Dunn said the claims were "90 per cent false".

We have always tried to be honest with (the police) and we have nothing to hide," she said.

"We have to let this take its course, but we have a solicitor looking at it."

However the force has urged North Tyneside Council to revoke the venue's licence on grounds including the prevention of crime and disorder, adding: "There is apparent disregard for the licencing objectives."
