For more than 30 years, Prescot Road in Old Swan has been the home of an inventive cake-maker whose huge creations have seen him become a local sensation.
Peter Roberts began making cakes 40 years ago after being forced to train as a pastry chef due to his preferred study course being full.
During the last 40 years, the 55-year-old has become a firm favourite among celebrities including Coleen Rooney who bought her 30th Birthday cake from Peter's shop 'Centre Attraction Cakes'.
On his success, Peter said: "The reaction of people you do the cakes for, the joy on their faces, it's just amazing.
"Even a little cake for a kid's birthday party - when you take the cake out the box and they see it for the first time, their faces just light up."
Peter opened his shop 30 years ago, with his creations taking weeks to prepare, as he hand pipes intricate icing details and assembles huge structures that need hidden supports to stay standing.
His designs include the Liver Building, King's Landing, Downton Abbey and fairytale castles.
One of his most demanding designs was for Cinderella's carriage complete with six horses that were each hand-crafted. The huge design took three weeks to finish around other commitments in the shop.
Speaking about his decision to remain in Liverpool despite his success, Peter said: "The city is a lovely part of the world to do it in, the people are so friendly and supportive.
"I don't know if it would be like that elsewhere."
The cakes start from £42.50 although his most expensive cake cost around £5,000.
