Guy Bunder, of Made Architectural Constructions, has sold his latest creation and the striking residence has taken Merewether Heights beyond the $2 million mark for the first time.

Bunder's "Black House", at 21 Flowerdale Avenue in Merewether and built below the property he has just sold for $2.4 million at 25 View Street in Merewether Heights, was like nothing seen in Newcastle before and consequently became the most talked about home of 2019.

He built both houses on a severely sloping block of land on the boundary of Merewether and Merewether Heights. Bunder worked with Space Design Architecture to develop plans for the two unique residences and has been living in the View Street residence since its completion.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in View Street was marketed by PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie's Jesse Wilton and Mark Kentwell with a guide of $2.3 million. The one-of-a-kind, four-level house featured a top-level master retreat, walls of glass and a mineral pool.

Mr Wilton said the result "raises the bar for Merewether Heights" and "shows what can be done in the area".

The sale eclipsed the previous suburb record for Merewether Heights of $1.65 million for the sale of a Scenic Drive home in 2013, according to Australian Property Monitors data.

LUXURY: This four-bedroom, four-bathroom waterfront home with its own private jetty in Marks Point has been sold for a suburb high $3.2 million.

A new suburb record has also been set for Marks Point after LJ Hooker Belmont's Joshua O'Doherty sold a four-bedroom, four-bedroom residence on the water at 1/100 Marks Point Road for $3.2 million. The previous highest result was $3 million, according to APM data.

Mr O'Doherty reported strong out-of-town interest on the waterfront home which had its own private jetty that could and was "heavily contested" through an expressions on interest campaign.

It is believed to have been bought as a holiday home by a Sydney purchaser.

PRD's Diana Apostolovski sold a three-bedroom storybook home on 2220 square metres of land at 17 Amber Way in Glendale for $1.175 million after its first open house.

QUICK MOVER: This storybook home on 2220 square metres of land in Glendale was secured after its first open house.

Belle Property Newcastle's have sold a five-bedroom home with coastal views at 3 Algona Road in Charlestown for $900,000.

LARGE: This five-bedroom home with coastal views at 3 Algona Road in Charlestown has been bought for $900,000.
