Inside the eye-watering cost of an F1 Abu Dhabi GP superyacht view

The Yas Marina floodlights are warmed up for an exciting final grand prix of the 2025 Formula 1 season and fans around the circuit will watch on from their seats as the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix crowns this year's champion. But look up from the asphalt and you'll see a wall of luxury yachts lining the harbour.

For those lucky enough to watch this weekend's race from a yacht, the action will be seen through the bubbles of champagne. But what does it cost to be in this position?

We'll start from the simple end: a berth. Yas Marina boasts 227 wet berths, with those lining the south-west side of the harbour offering the best views of the racing. These slots are available in weekly bookings, but, as you'd imagine, are incredibly difficult to get your hands on. The price is equally as difficult to get over, with berths costing from approximately $3500 and increasing with the size of boat.

Of course, you have to buy or rent the boat. Most visitors will charter such a thing. For the race, luxury yacht packages can reach close to six figures. But a larger and more luxurious vessel, like this 131ft Sunseeker, could cost upwards of half a million dollars. This comes with a direct view of the track and a number of other perks.

These perks include full-service race-week hospitality, including a captain and crew, private chef, and fully-stocked bar. There could also be tailored menus for different sessions across the weekend, and track-facing decks will be fitted with comfortable lounge seating and large screens.

In essence, the yacht will become a floating paddock club for those lucky enough to be on it.

If that was too eye-watering for you, a number of yacht operators now sell individual hospitality passes that cover places on yachts. This can be well into the four figures per person, but offers a 'cheaper' option for those who have to be on the water. These tickets can increase as the level of hospitality improves, with some tickets reaching well into the five figures for the race weekend.

This suddenly makes the tickets to the track look rather well-priced. General admission started at around $350 with grandstand options reaching up to $640. The more substantial tickets, including access to evening concerts, are closer to $1000.

Watching the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from a superyacht may be the ultimate flex, and may just be the most expensive way to watch F1 this year.
