Sydney-based artist Murray Fredericks collaborates with Tom Schutzinger for the immersive video installation Dye 2. The work was born out of Fredericks’ time in Greenland, where he explored the country’s vastness and history, travelling by dogsled.
The video and sound installation transports viewers to the remote dome of an abandoned nuclear missile facility in Greenland, now known as Dye 2. It was once part of a network of structures integral to the detection of airspace activity in the Cold War era, and has since become a receptacle for layers of sound.
