Inside the cheapest property on Zoopla - two-bedroom house on market for just £25,000

Those in the market for a new house in Middlesbrough could nab themselves a bargain as the cheapest property listed on Zoopla is located in Grangetown.

A two-bedroom semi-detached home is on the market for offers over £25,000.

This low price is a tenth of the average house price in the UK, which stands at £245,443, according to the Land Registry.

The criteria for Zoopla's cheapest house excluded shared ownership, leasehold properties and Help to Buy.

As well as two bedrooms, the property has a porch, one reception room and a bathroom.

The Zoopla listing for the home reads: "An appealing two bedroom semi-detached property in Grangetown, Middlesbrough.

"Located on the edge of The North York Moors National Park and a five-minute drive to Redcar seafront and sandy beach.

"The property is well situated for good local schools, shops, bus routes and commuting throughout Teesside and beyond."

It adds: "The property offers two good sized bedrooms, bathroom, lounge and kitchen diner with an extension providing an extra versatile room.

"The property is deceptively spacious, and viewing is highly recommended."

The kitchen could use a makeover (ZOOPLA)
The bathroom (ZOOPLA)

As might be expected due to the very low price tag, the property requires some major renovation work.

The carpets look like they could do with being replaced and the kitchen would also benefit from a makeover.

While the bathroom has tape on the sink and toilet reading 'do not use'.

But while there is a lot of work to be completed, there are many benefits, including double glazing, gas central heating, off-road parking and good sized front and rear gardens.

The house also falls short of the £500,000 stamp duty threshold, meaning you won't have to pay any land duty.

However, it is worth keeping in mind how much additional money you'll need to spend to transform the place.

And it could also be a good idea to pay to have a survey carried out on the property before you invest.

These figures would be on top of the survey your mortgage lender will carry out.
