Inside the Blackrock home just sold to 'mystery' buyer for €9m

A palatial south Dublin home has been sold for a whopping €9 million.

Glenheather in Blackrock was snapped up by a mysterious buyer in one of the most expensive property purchases in Ireland this year.

The price of the detached property on Avoca Avenue was €400,000 less than the €9.4 million that it was sold for at auction in April 2007.

The magnificent period home, which was built in 1858, has undergone a number of modifications.

The most recent being undertaken was by former owner John Conroy, the chief executive of Merrion Capital.

The residence underwent major renovations including the reconstruction of the three-storey extension and refurbishment of the nearby coach house.

The property's swimming pool; was demolished and replaced with a larger one following approval from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

A further planning application seeking permission for the construction of a single-storey extension of 30sq m (323sq ft) at ground-floor level to the rear of the house amongst other things was submitted to the council on behalf of Tempus Ltd, a company registered in Jersey four weeks ago.
