Inside the 138-year-old shipwreck now worth $250,000

  • A shipwreck, lost for over 130 years, was accidentally discovered at the bottom of Lake Michigan near Wisconsin.
  • Matt Olson, owner of Door County Adventure Rafting, found the anomaly on satellite images while scouting for customer sites.
  • Maritime archaeologists identified the vessel as the Frank D. Barker, a 137-foot-long ship built in 1867 and sunk in 1887.
  • The Frank D. Barker sank in 1887 after encountering severe weather while en route to collect iron ore, with its crew managing to reach Spider Island.
  • This discovery is another significant find for Olson, who has previously located other historic shipwrecks in the area.
