Inside Swansea's new cocktail bar that's opened just off Wind Street as a 'social media hotspot'

A new cocktail bar "with a difference" has opened just off Wind Street in Swansea.

Utopia Cocktail Bar is a "unique experience" venue that prioritises the experience for the customer alongside its inventive and classic mixed drinks.

With the venue featuring large neon lights, a penny piece bar counter and large artificial trees 'growing' out of the bar, the space has been uniquely designed to be a social media hub for party goers on the start or end of their nights out.

Based just off the corner of Little Wind Street, the venue is the latest addition hoping to make its mark on the Swansea hospitality trade.

Formerly known as Eddie Rockets City Diner, the property has now been purchased by StayBC, which offers accommodation across Wales.

Now the brand hopes to venture into the food and drink industry creating a space that attracts customers for its "premier experience".

With the upper floors remaining flats for the company's accommodation service, Utopia bar aims to offer a unique space that people will want to capture on Instagram.

"We wanted this place to be a huge attraction for people that like to use social media to snap their nights out, I've worked in London and other venues and noticed a real gap for this sort of venue in Swansea" said Jordan Habberfield, Bar Manager for Utopia Bar.

The cocktail bar puts a spin on modern classics such as Espresso Martinis garnished with caramel sauce drizzle alongside rock salt in an attempt to "bring out the dark and richer flavours hidden within the drink". And there will be edible flowers on some of their featured drinks.

"Its not your conventional bar, its the modern-day bar for the customer. With cocktail classes like our 'Squid Games' one we are currently hosting, we are constantly going to improve and adapt on the stuff we do" said Jordan.

The Neath-born resident argues the experiences for a consumer has evolved drastically over the last five years.

"These days, customers are always looking for an investment of return on the destinations they go to, they want something a bit different and something to snap onto their social media to create memories of their night out, that's what we want to mirror at Utopia Bar," said Jordan.

"I think Swansea has really missed out on a venue that emphasises on creating memories and is universal, it's what we hope to achieve."
