Andrew Considine admits Stephen Glass has immediately turned up the heat at Aberdeen training.
The new manager got to work at Cormack Park this week as he prepares for his first outing in charge of the Pittodrie side.
Aberdeen face Livingston in the Scottish Cup on Saturday and Glass has swept into the role and demanded more of his new charges.
And veteran defender Considine insists it's had a positive effect on the squad already.
"He's demanding, already, more energy in our press, more intensity and a lot more forward movement," he said of Derek McInnes ' successor.
"Already in training it has been a lot tougher, a lot tougher.
"When a new manager comes in you want to impress and you can see already the boys are doing the best they can.
"Not that I'm saying the boys don't do their best in training anyway but they are really at it this week.
"They've been eager to impress and I feel that each and every one of us has had to hit that reset button.
"Now the new manager is in, everybody has a chance of playing.
"It's a bit of a shock to the system but I feel it's what we need as players and as a team - to go and attack teams, especially at home and we've got a huge chance with these remaining eight games if we can go all the way to have a great end of the season.
