Inside Shakira's Night Out With Manuel García-Rulfo: What We Know About the Mexican Actor Spotted With the Colombian Superstar

Shakira may have just given celebrity-watchers their favorite mystery of the summer.

The Colombian superstar was photographed this week enjoying what appeared to be a private outing with Mexican actor Manuel García-Rulfo, the charismatic star of Netflix's 'The Lincoln Lawyer,' setting off a frenzy of speculation about whether the pair are Hollywood's newest potential couple.

The photos, first shared by celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi and captured by Backgrid photographers, show Shakira and García-Rulfo leaving the iconic Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood together. What immediately caught fans' attention was that they weren't simply seen at the same location. They left in the same vehicle, with García-Rulfo behind the wheel and Shakira riding shotgun.

The images show the singer seated comfortably in the front passenger seat as the Mexican actor drove away from the celebrity hotspot, a detail that transformed what could have been a routine dinner into one of the most talked-about celebrity sightings of the week.

Neither Shakira nor García-Rulfo has publicly commented on the nature of their relationship, and there is no confirmation that the outing was romantic. Still, the photographs have fueled intense speculation, particularly because Shakira has largely kept her personal life out of the spotlight since her highly publicized split from former Barcelona soccer star Gerard Piqué.

For the evening, Shakira embraced an effortlessly chic look that felt worlds away from the glittering stage costumes she has worn throughout her blockbuster Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.

The singer appeared in a fitted black sleeveless top paired with dark bottoms and striking knee-high black leather boots. The sleek boots added a subtle rock-and-roll edge to the outfit, while her signature honey-blonde hair flowed loosely over her shoulders in soft waves. The overall look was polished but relaxed, suggesting a private night out rather than a public appearance.

While Shakira was the one attracting most of the attention, the man sitting behind the wheel has quietly become one of the most successful Latino actors working in Hollywood today.

Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, García-Rulfo spent years building his career before landing the role that changed everything: defense attorney Mickey Haller in Netflix's hit legal drama 'The Lincoln Lawyer. 'The series turned him into an international star and one of the streaming giant's most recognizable leading men.

Before becoming Mickey Haller, García-Rulfo appeared in major productions including 'The Magnificent Seven' alongside Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt, Michael Bay's '6 Underground' with Ryan Reynolds, 'A Man Called Otto' opposite Tom Hanks, and the latest 'Jurassic Park,' with Scarlett Johansson. More recently, he starred in Netflix's adaptation of Pedro Páramo, the classic novel by celebrated Mexican writer Juan Rulfo, to whom he is distantly related.

His rise has been notable not only because of his acting success but because he has become one of the few Mexican actors leading major English-language television franchises.

As for his romantic history, García-Rulfo has generally kept his personal life private. He was most recently linked to Audrey McGraw, the daughter of country music superstars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The pair were first connected publicly in 2023 and appeared together several times throughout 2024.

Fans began speculating that the relationship had ended earlier this year after social media activity suggested the two were no longer together. Neither García-Rulfo nor McGraw publicly addressed the rumors.

Shakira's love life has been under even greater scrutiny. Since ending her 11-year relationship with Piqué in 2022, the singer has been linked to several high-profile figures, though none of the rumored romances have been officially confirmed.

Instead, Shakira has focused largely on her music, motherhood and career resurgence. The breakup inspired some of her biggest recent hits and fueled the success of her album and tour Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which became both a commercial and personal triumph.

That context is part of what makes the García-Rulfo sighting so intriguing.

On one side is one of the most famous women in Latin music, a global superstar who has spent the last three years rebuilding her life after heartbreak. On the other is one of Hollywood's most sought-after Latino actors, a Mexican leading man whose profile continues to rise with every season of The Lincoln Lawyer.

For now, all that exists are a handful of photos, one luxury hotel, and a car ride through Los Angelesn but in celebrity culture, sometimes that's more than enough to get people talking.
