Inside Sex And The City reboot as filming gets underway in New York without Kim Cattrall

Sex And The City fans erupted into a frenzy earlier this year when it was confirmed that the iconic nineties show is coming back for another series - but without Kim Cattrall.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis are set to star in the new TV series, titled And Just Like That.

As avid fans have shared their disappointment that man-eater Samantha Jones will not return, her former co-star Sarah Jessica Parker revealed that there's a simple reason for Kim's absence - she's just ‘not required’ for the new series.

HBO has said the series will be ‘a new chapter of the groundbreaking …. Sex and the City… starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.’

The 10-episode series will pick up with the legendary friendship group in modern-day New York, and will see the three women navigate the trials and tribulations of their loves lives and careers more than twenty years on.

The original show ran from 1998 to 2004 and it’s incredible success led to two smash hit movies and a cult following that still thrives in pop culture now.

When will the reboot be available to watch?

Alongside the cryptic snap, the actress revealed that it was ‘surreal’ to be back on set nearly twenty years later.

The star’s caption read: “Pure coincidence AND JUST LIKE THAT, we find ourselves on this street called Perry the night before it all begins again. MPK here we go.

“And I’m thrilled and terrified.”

The brand-new Sex and the City reboot was first announced in December 2020, so it’s likely that production has been underway for a number of weeks now.

Eagle-eyed fans have predicted that the series will air in early 2022.

When the new Sex and the City: And Just Like That reboot finally airs, fans will be able to tune in to watch on HBO Max in the US.

While there is currently no confirmation on a UK broadcaster, it’s likely that Sky Atlantic will buy the rights of the long-awaited programme.

Who will star in the mini-series?

While fans will be delighted to see the three main characters back on their screens, there’s set to be a lot more familiar faces in store.

Carrie Bradshaw’s one true love, Mr Big, will return for the new series as actor Chris Noth has been welcomed back to play the iconic role.

Another ex-boyfriend of Carries, in the form of Aiden (John Corbett) will also return for a least three episodes after he appeared in the second Sex And The City flick.

Elsewhere, Grey’s Anatomy star Sara Ramìrez has been cast as eclectic character Che Diaz.

Che is a non-binary, queer stand-up comedian who will feature Carrie on her podcast.

“Everyone at And Just Like That … is beyond thrilled that a dynamically talented actor such as Sara Ramírez has joined the Sex and the City family,” executive producer Michael King gushed.

“Sara is a one-of-a-kind talent, equally at home with comedy and drama – and we feel excited and inspired to create this new character for the show.”
