The recently-restored country gem has a kitchen room with traditional features while the sweeping staircase leads to a grand billiard room.

Tillycorthie Mansion was built for the Duncan family - who eventually moved there during the Second World War, splitting their time between Bolivia and Aberdeen.

Duncan, who came from humble beginnings in Fraserburgh before moving to Bolivia and making his fortune in mining, lived the rest of his life in the magnificent house with his wife Isabella.

The house was abandoned for nearly 30 years before it was bought and refurbished by the current owners to its present condition.

'From the period paints and wallcoverings to the silk window drapes and waxed parquet floors, Tillycorthie Mansion House is a supreme example of a property that has been fortunate enough to have been rescued and restored to its former glory,' said Fiona Gormley of Savills.

But the property doesn't come cheap and will set you back £1.5million.
