Inside Salt Bae's restaurant - eye watering menu prices, celeb fans and swanky decor

By Vicki Newman

Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe - better known as Salt Bae - has earned himself a big reputation for fancily sprinkling salt, serving up giant steaks and handing out even bigger bills.

His new London restaurant is quickly becoming as popular among celebs as Sugar Hut is among the cast of TOWIE.

But could us regular folk afford it?

On the menu you'll find £630 steaks, £100 burgers, £23 salads and £9 Cokes, so unless you've got bottomless pockets, you might want to consider pushing the boat out at TGI Friday's instead.

As well as his new London restaurant, Salt Bae has venues all over the world, in places such as Dubai and New York.

With their plush interiors and famously expensive dishes served up by the man himself, it's no wonder it's become a regular haunt for those with famous faces - even if they are a bit shocked when the bill comes.

Gemma Collins was recently left dumbstruck after being charged £1,450 for a steak.

She headed to the fancy venue with her boyfriend Rami Hawash for a romantic dinner, showing it off on Instagram, but soon realised her error.

After sharing clips of Salt Bae slicing up her tomahawk steak and sprinkling it with salt in his signature style.

The huge slab of meat was covered in gold leaf, making it look all the more luxurious.

And Gemma said it was quite the experience, although it came with a hefty pricetag.

She said on her podcast: "I have to give the ambience of the restaurant, the experience, a 10 out of 10.

"The bill was another situation, I was in utter shock. But you have to weigh these things up, the press reported that my steak cost £700, if only they knew.

"I wish it cost £700. It actually cost £1,450."

She went as far as to say that she felt "sick" when she woke up the following morning and realised how much she'd spent.

She said: "I went a bit over the top, but the only way I can justify it was that I haven't been on holiday this year

"I've been on a staycation, so we sort of had maybe all our holidays in one evening. It's something I've never done before, I would never spend that money, but we had a good evening.

"Yes we had 24 carat gold steak...I felt a bit sick. It was an amazing experience, I would have paid that to meet him anyway because I love him, and it's a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Rio Ferdinand has enjoyed a pricey night out at the restaurant too.

Heading along with his wife Kate, they dined on £630 steaks and £100 burgers and were even greeted at their table by Salt Bae himself.

And Rio decided to steal the show by performing Nusret's signature salt move, sprinkling it from a height and bouncing it off his elbow.

Kate shared a video of the moment on her Instagram Stories as well as the moment baby Cree was presented with his very own Salt Bae bib.

Model Danielle Lloyd left her fans with plenty of questions after she showed off the £100 burger she'd been tucking into.

She shared a video of Nusret, wearing sunglasses and a bow tie, cutting the gold-wrapped burger in half and squeezing it so the juice dripped out onto the wooden board it had been presented on.

After being quizzed by her fans, Danielle told them: "There isn't a lot on the menu and it is very expensive but lovely restaurant and the food was good."

A-list stars including David Beckham, Jason Statham and Naomi Campbell have tucked into the expensive delicacies too - but the price tag probably didn't phase them as much as it would us.

Salt Bae, who has more than 39 million followers on Instagram, doesn't shy away from sharing celebrity's reviews of his food either.

He once claims that Leonardo DiCaprio said his steak was "the best meat he ever had in his life".

Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, P Diddy and Drake have also headed along to the restaurants dotted around the globe for an expensive night out.

But those who don't have a bank balance to rival the Beckhams have shared their shock after being handed the bill.

One customer shared his receipt online after racking up a bill of £1,812.40.

Among the whopping total was a £23 salad, an £18 onion flower, a £630 steak, four £11 Red Bulls, a £12 sweetcorn and a £100 golden burger.

They also paid £72 for four double Grey Goose vodkas and £60 for two prawn tempura rolls.

So if you're thinking about going for a meal there, you might want to save up first.
