Inside Paul O'Grady's last filming scenes as icon featured in BBC event he 'wasn't a fan of'

Paul O'Grady's 'last bit of filming' will be airing in a BBC special later next week, it was recently confirmed.

The later star died "unexpectedly but peacefully" at the age of 67 in March.

Friends and family paid tribute to the Lily Savage icon and now fans will get to watch the last thing he filmed before his death.

He is set to feature in a documentary about Eurovision, a popular singing competition that he wasn't a fan of.

Paul's appearance was confirmed by the icon's manager and tweeted by a friend, Malcom Prince, who also worked as a producer with Paul. He wrote: "There will be a brief clip of Paul in the opening titles of the Eurovision programme at 8.00p.m. on Tues 9th May on BBC One…

"Paul wasn’t a fan of Eurovision as I am sure you all know, but it turned out to be the last bit of filming he did."

Fans joked about Paul's dislike for the song contest in the comments section.

A fan reminisced: "Haha I remember going in to radio two to talk to Maria Mc one Eurovision weekend. Paul was clucking about moaning about it all!"

"He was never a fan of it, bless him," the original tweeter, wrote.

Another fan said: "I'm sure I can hear his rAAAnt... of alllll the things to be my last recording, it had to be about Eurovision!!!"

"Oh the irony. sure he's looking down going, bah humbug," one joked.

One fan thanked Malcolm for the information: "Thank you so much for sharing at what must be a very difficult time for you."

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 semi-finals will be held on May 9 and 11 at the Liverpool Arena, ahead of this year's Grand Final which will be hosted at the same venue on May 13.

The official death certificate recently confirmed that Paul died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia.

The British Heart Foundation, describes sudden arrhythmic death syndrome - or SADS - as person dying suddenly following a cardiac arrest and no obvious cause can be found.

Paul had spoken openly about his battles with heart disease and had endured three heart attacks before the age of 65.
