Inside packed Limerick student house party with drinking, dancing and singing as Gardai called

Footage on social media shows scenes inside a Limerick student house party where dozens of people packed in like sardines.

Videos on social media show groups of young men and women packed tightly into a living room as music blares.

Students could be seen on top of each other as they danced and sang while showing no heed to social distancing guidelines.

The incident happened in Limerick student area College Court near Castletroy.

Gardai were called to the party at 1am in the early hours of Tuesday morning where they said the residents were spoken to.

A garda statement said: "Gardaí attended and spoke to the residents of a house in the College Court area at 1am on September 15.

"An Garda Síochána continues to respond to reports of gatherings and engage with communities with a view to implementing the guidelines issued by the Government and HSE in order to minimise the impact of COVID-19 on our community as a whole.

"In supporting the COVID-19 public health guidelines, An Garda Síochána has adopted a graduated policing response based on its tradition of policing by consent. This has seen Garda members engage, educate, encourage and, as a last resort, enforce."
